True Story is a full-length English/Hindi feature film to be shot entirely in India. This film is unique in that it is the first Indian story to look into the often dark reality of the lives of the rich & famous. By providing a piercing insight into the struggles and celebrations of the entertainment industry, True Story has the potential to be the “The Joy Luck Club” for the Indian, then world audience. True Story is an accurate reflection of how Indian films are beginning to influence the culture of global cinema in their own exquisite ways.

True Story is about a small-town, middle-class Tamilian Brahmin boy, Pipi, who gets lost in the crowds of Bombay when his family moves to the city while he is still in high school.  In school, he meets Rocker, who soon becomes his closest friend.  Together, they scheme to escape the shadow of their embarrassing and cowardly parents and find that the easiest way to do this is to get rich... quickly.  Using his father's secret diary from his years as a narcotics officer, Pipi begins to extort money from the crime lords of Bombay's underworld.  He shares his newfound wealth and influence with Rocker and the two of them reach for the stars as they become young movers and shakers in the city's glamour circles.  However, their lives are endangered when they reach too far.  Pipi and Rocker, and their gang of friends and followers, become victims of their own ambitions when they step too far into the limelight.

True Story is a true story about the lives of talented "nobodies" who extend themselves to become "somebodies" in a superficial world where this is the most important goal.  And in the world of Pipi and Rocker, their story is one of dreams, crime, guns, and the most valuable lesson of all.
